What exactly is Candida?
Candida albicans is a common yeast found in our digestive system and throat, when we are exposed to anti-biotics, birth control pills, corti-steroids, or prednisone the good bacteria which normally keep candida under control in our systems are killed off and the candida can overgrow. When the candida yeast gets out of control, it morphs into a mycelial fungal form, becomes invasive and grows rhizoids (fingerlike protrusions) which then burrow into the intestinal wall. These rhizoids leave microscopic holes in the intestinal wall which allows toxins in the form of undigested food particles, bacteria and yeast into our blood stream. When this condition occurs the overgrowth is called Candidiasis or a systemic yeast infection. One indication of a systemic yeast infection is oral thrush or a white coated tongue. The toxins that the yeast puts into our system are responsible for the varying conditions that each individual experiences.
Rhizoids are fingerlike protusions that the fungal yeast uses to gather food (i.e sugar). The yeast uses these rhizoids to attach to our intestinal wall. Over time they actually can burrow directly through our intestinal wall causing a condition called Leaky Gut Syndrome.
The Yeast Connection by Dr. William Crook states that:
"Research studies by W. Allen Walker, Professor of Pediatrics, Harvard Medical School, show that the lining of the intestinal tract (the mucosal barrier) can be adversely affected through many different mechanims. Walker does not mention the possible role of candida in causing food allergies. Yet, the observations of both practicing physicians and researchers suggests that Candida overgrowth in the guy may harm the mucosal layer. This may lead to the absorption of incompletely digested food molecules whch may then cause food allergies."
These "incompletely digested food particles" and the excretions that the yeast put out become toxins in your system. When this condition occurs, you have a systemic yeast infection and this overgrowth is called Candidiasis.
William G. Crook, M.D., a pediatric allergist from Jackson, Tennessee, also had this to say about Candidiasis:
Patients included all age groups and both sexes. Children with learning disabilities, dyslexia, hyperactivity, attention deficit disorder, food allergies, drug abuse and a variety of delinquent and emotional disorders, had often received repeated courses of antibiotics for recurrent ear infections, bronchitis and other conditions--including prolonged courses of tetracycline for acne.
Even patients who had been committed to mental hospitals have been helped by anti-fungal therapy. Other puzzling immunologic diseases, including multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis and lupus erythematosus, have responded better when attention was given to reduction of yeast and immune stress. A wide spectrum of allergic disorders, from classical hay fever to chronic, delayed-onset type of food allergy and petrochemical sensitivity, have improved following anti-yeast therapy.
The use of allergy injections has been eliminated in many cases. Injection therapy has never been of much help in food allergy. Avoidance and anti-yeast therapy are the most effective long-term programs. Tolerance to previously offending foods and exposures is usually improved after several months of anti-fungal therapy.
You can find the symptoms of systemic yeast on this page. You may see the things that you suffer with on this list. I sure did! At least 35 of the symptoms on the symptoms list applied to me. Sadly, most of us must diagnose ourselves with Candidiasis; the medical community seems unwilling or unable to assist. Don't get me wrong, there are some out there who can and will help, but the vast majority of doctors seems to be totally unaware of this condition or at least tend to minimize its impact.

Why can't I get rid of Candida?
Candida is tough! It has taken up residence in your body and it will fight to stay there. Candida is difficult to remove because each yeast cell is contained in a capsule that the white blood cells, our front line defense, cannot engulf and kill. Your body must rely on the immune system to kill yeast cells. But, Candida albicans can put out factors that suppress the response of the immune system to itself. Great, huh! So you need your immune system to kill Candida, but the candida can suppress your immune system from killing it. Candida also has a rather unique ability to change its receptors or "appearance” so that the immune system can not find it to kill it. Candida is essentially a chameleon, constantly changing its colors; a moving target which makes it exceptionally difficult to eliminate. You need a product that specifically targets candida - one that candida cannot fool. We have found that product!! It specifically targets and eradicates Candida.
If you have a candida infection, the conventional methods of fighting it don't always work very well. The famous "yeast diet" is almost impossible to stay on for long enough periods of time to actually kill the yeast; it is an especially difficult diet for children to be on.
The drugs that the medical community have been using to treat this condition are also proving to be somewhat ineffective. In fact, things like Diflucan and Nystatin become less effective the more that you use them. This is why Diflucan may have worked in the past to clear a yeast infection, but may not work today.
Candida flourishes on foods that are a traditional part of our diet and will also cause you to crave the things that feed it. Namely, sugar and simple carbohydrates. Even if you find something that kills the yeast off - the dead yeast cells feed colonies of yeast further down the road. It is tough!
I suffered from constant and painful abdominal gas, night sweats, chronic sore throat, vaginal discharge, vaginal itch, rectal itch, nasal itch, springtime allergies, food sensitivities, eye pain, foggy thinking, eye-blearing fatigue, insane cravings for sugar and carbs, insomnia, low body temperature (I was always so cold), sensitivity to light, blurry vision, frequent urination (I had not been able to get through the night without having to use the bathroom for the past 5 years), mood swings, anger, mild acne, low sex drive, water retention, inability to lose weight and the list goes on.
